Opportunity Highlights
- Holiday coverage: Dec 18–Jan 2, with extension through Jan 3 or Jan 8 possible
- Ongoing 2027 need: 1–2 weeks/month
- Average workload of 6–8 hours/day + shared call
- Approx. 130 CABGs/year + similar TAVR volume
- Strong APP support for inpatient care + consults + rounding
- Dedicated CV team with 5 interventional cardiologists + 2 general cardiologists + EP + 2 CV surgeons
- 3 CV ORs, including hybrid OR + advanced cath lab + Da Vinci Xi
- Driving-distance candidates + those able to commit to recurring 2027 coverage preferred
EMR: Epic
Credentialing: 30–60 days
Facility: 339-bed, Level II Trauma tertiary health system
Job Responsibilities
> Provide inpatient + postoperative care, including rounding + surgical follow-up
> Participate in shared call + evaluate urgent/emergent surgical cases as needed
> Collaborate with cardiology + anesthesia + CVICU + other multidisciplinary teams
> Support vascular + thoracic surgical needs based on training and experience
> Partner with APPs for rounding + consults + ongoing patient management
Qualifications
> BC/BE Cardiothoracic or Cardiovascular Surgery; BE certification required within 5 years of residency
> No minimum experience required
> ACLS required if requesting conscious sedation privileges
> Flu/COVID vaccination or qualifying exemption
> No malpractice history preferred
