Job description

Job description

The Department of Psychiatry has an exciting opportunity for full-time, board-certified, or board-eligible child psychiatrists to join our growing psychiatric clinical team, the Medical Director for the Missouri Child Psychiatry Access Program (MO-CPAP).

Clinical opportunities are available across multiple settings, including our outpatient Child Psychiatry Clinic, and several innovative programs such as DYS Tele-Psych and Bridge, our school-based mental health program. These roles offer flexibility to tailor clinical responsibilities to individual interests, with opportunities for inpatient, outpatient, or blended practice models.

MO-CPAP is a grant-funded program that increases mental health care access across Missouri through same-day psychiatric teleconsultation, resource and referral services, and workforce development. Responsibilities of the MO-CPAP Medical Director include, but are not limited to, principal direction and responsibility for activities regarding psychiatry and medical-related activities. The Medical Director is responsible for initial interfacing with consulting providers and supports recruitment of medical providers into MO-CPAP. Clinically, the Medical Director provides teleconsultation (phone and video) to healthcare providers and provides one-time consultative evaluation services with patients over video, as indicated. This position works jointly with the MO-CPAP Program Lead on issues of sustainability of the program, assists in the preparation of project progress reporting, and fosters the growth of the program in all aspects. Finally, this position provides leadership to the consulting child and adolescent psychiatry team, provides training and education oversight and reviews data for quality improvement initiatives.

The department strongly supports and encourages teaching and scholarly activity. Faculty work closely with medical students, residents, and fellows, with protected opportunities for education and research. Leadership opportunities are also available, including the potential to serve in academic and programmatic leadership roles aligned with departmental needs and interests.

The Department of Psychiatry is committed to excellence in patient care, education, and research, and provides a comprehensive continuum of services. These include inpatient psychiatric care at the University of Missouri Psychiatric Center, 24/7 emergency and hospital-based consultation services, and a full range of outpatient adult and child psychiatry services.
