Job description
NaphCare is seeking a Psychiatrist to join our specialized THRIVE Jail-Based Competency Treatment (JBCT) Program at the San Diego Central Jail.
This is a unique opportunity for a psychiatrist who is interested in forensic, correctional, and/or serious mental health care and wants to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals involved in the criminal justice system.
The JBCT program is a 30-bed adult male unit operated in partnership with the California Department of State Hospitals (DSH). The program provides psychiatric and mental health services focused on restoring competency to stand trial, helping address their mental health needs and prepare to move forward with their pending legal proceedings. We would like our patients can move forward in their lives – in a healthier place. And for our providers, never any nights or weekends. Job Responsibilities
Qualifications
Current DEA registration
A valid CPR card (or ability and willingness to attain one)
Eligible or qualified by the state laws/regulations to practice psychiatry
Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in primary specialty of psychiatric care
Experience in a correctional healthcare or inpatient mental health care setting highly preferred
Sufficient electronic medical record and/or computer skills
Must pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening
Working Hours
This is can be an onsite position that can either be 20-hours-per-week or 40-hour-per-week.
For the 40-hour-per-week position, you can elect to be full-time with benefits or a contractor.
No nights or weekends! Operations are at days and a set schedule that works for you, Monday through Friday. NaphCare will work with the selected candidate to determine a schedule that supports both the provider and program needs, with options such as:
• 20-hours-per-week sample schedules:
o Two 10-hour days, or
o Two and a half 8-hour days
• 40-hours-per-week sample schedules:
o Four 10-hour days, or
o Five 8-hour days
