This position is responsible for providing high quality patient-centered health care to pediatric patients of the community health center's main location in Downtown Mobile, AL.

Candidates must:

  • be committed to delivering whole patient care;
  • be experienced in managing pediatric patients and interacting with their parent(s)/caregiver(s);
  • be proficient with navigating and documenting in an electronic medical record (Athena);
  • be licensed to practice medicine in the state of Alabama;
  • possess a Doctorate of Medicine.

Job Responsibilities

Prescribe or administer treatment, therapy, medication, vaccination and other specialized medical care to treat or prevent illness, disease or injury.
Order, perform and interpret tests and analyze records, reports and examination information to diagnose patients' conditions.
Monitor information such as medical history, reports and examination results.
Explain procedures and discuss test results or prescribed treatment with patients.
Advise patients and community members concerning, diet, activity and hygiene and disease prevention.
Refer patients to medical specialists or other practitioners as necessary.
Direct and coordinate activities of nurses, medical assistants and other health care providers.
Actively participate in quality improvement projects.

Qualifications

Must possess a Doctorate of Medicine.
Must have an unrestricted license to practice medicine in the state of Alabama.
Must be Board Certified.

Working Hours

Monday through Friday (7:30AM - 4:30PM)
Opportunities to work Saturday Clinic (8:00AM-noon) - This clinic is staffed on a rotation basis.

- Professional skills and knowledge for effectively applying clinical practice guidelines
- Analytical skills sufficient to order appropriate tests, review reports and utilize information to guide patient treatment
- Technical skills to chart patient data in an electronic medical record
- Interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with patients, caregivers and members of the healthcare team
