Taylor Regional Hospital (TRH) is seeking a Board-Certified/Board-Eligible Orthopedic Surgeon to join our established orthopedic program. Job Responsibilities
• Perform a broad range of orthopedic surgical procedures within the surgeon's training, experience, and granted hospital privileges.
• Provide both operative and non-operative orthopedic care, developing individualized treatment plans based on each patient's clinical needs.
• Conduct outpatient orthopedic clinics, including new patient evaluations, follow-up visits, pre-operative assessments, and post-operative care.
• Perform scheduled surgical cases utilizing designated Operating Room block time at Taylor Regional Hospital.
• Participate in the orthopedic call schedule and provide consultation and treatment for emergency and inpatient orthopedic cases as appropriate.
• Evaluate and manage orthopedic trauma and acute musculoskeletal injuries presenting through the Emergency Department.
• Coordinate patient care with primary care providers, Emergency Department physicians, hospitalists, rehabilitation services, physical therapy, and other specialists.
• Work collaboratively with OR staff, anesthesia providers, nursing, advanced practice providers, and clinical support staff to ensure safe and efficient patient care.
• Provide appropriate pre-operative and post-operative management, including patient education, discharge planning, rehabilitation recommendations, and follow-up.
• Maintain timely, complete, and accurate medical documentation in accordance with hospital, regulatory, and payer requirements.
• Practice in accordance with established quality, patient-safety, infection-prevention, and evidence-based clinical standards.
• Participate in applicable medical staff, quality improvement, peer review, and clinical performance initiatives.
• Maintain all required Kentucky licensure, board certification/eligibility, DEA registration, continuing medical education, and hospital privileges.
• Support the continued growth and development of Taylor Regional Hospital's orthopedic service line, including building relationships with referring providers throughout Central Kentucky.
• Demonstrate a commitment to providing high-quality, patient-centered orthopedic care consistent with Taylor Regional Hospital's mission and standards.
Qualifications
• Successful completion of an ACGME- or AOA-accredited Orthopedic Surgery residency program.
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Orthopedic Surgery.
• Current, unrestricted Kentucky medical license, or eligibility to obtain Kentucky licensure.
• Current DEA registration, or eligibility to obtain and maintain registration.
• Eligible for medical staff appointment and clinical privileges at Taylor Regional Hospital.
• Demonstrated competency in the evaluation, diagnosis, and surgical and non-surgical treatment of orthopedic conditions.
• Ability to perform orthopedic surgical procedures independently within the physician's training, experience, and granted privileges.
• Strong clinical judgment and commitment to evidence-based, high-quality, patient-centered care.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to establish strong relationships with patients, families, referring providers, and members of the healthcare team.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with anesthesia, nursing, advanced practice providers, rehabilitation services, Emergency Department physicians, hospitalists, and other specialists.
• Commitment to patient safety, quality improvement, regulatory compliance, and accurate and timely clinical documentation.
• Ability and willingness to participate in the established orthopedic call schedule.
• Commitment to supporting the continued growth and development of Taylor Regional Hospital's orthopedic service line.
• New graduates and experienced orthopedic surgeons may be considered, provided all credentialing and privileging requirements are met.
Working Hours
• Outpatient Clinic: Primarily scheduled during regular business hours, typically 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
• Operating Room: Dedicated OR block time incorporated into the physician's weekly schedule based on surgical volume and availability.
• Schedule Structure: Combination of clinic and surgical days designed to support an efficient practice and promote a healthy work-life balance.
• Call Coverage: Participation in the established orthopedic call rotation, including Emergency Department and inpatient orthopedic consultations as appropriate.
• Post-Operative Care: Inpatient rounding and post-operative management incorporated into the physician's clinical and surgical schedule.
• Administrative Time: Appropriate time incorporated for documentation, patient follow-up, care coordination, and other physician responsibilities.
• Flexibility: Final clinic, OR, and call schedules developed collaboratively based on patient demand, surgical volume, and department needs.
Schedule Goal: Provide an attractive balance of outpatient clinic, dedicated surgical time, and shared call responsibilities while allowing the physician to establish and grow a successful orthopedic practice at Taylor Regional Hospital.
