Pediatric Orthopedic Senior Director

This is a unique opportunity driven by the confluence of several factors: rapid growth of the Health System through merger and the global Orthopedic Leadership necessary to administer best practices across the enterprise, anticipated significant market pivot when the leading institution dedicates significant resources to a latent subspecialty service line, advent of a new Orthopedic Surgery Residency and a unique partnership model evolving with one or more nationally-recognized Children’s Hospitals in our Region.

The Pediatric Orthopedic Subspecialty Division resides within a prominent integrated practice that spans Southeastern Pennsylvania, the Lehigh Valley, and New Jersey while based at a state-of-the-art stand-alone LVHN Reilly Children’s Hospital. Jefferson Orthopedics operates on a highly successful “pluralistic” model, combining employed and private practice physicians to form one of the country's largest Orthopedic practices, consistently recognized among the Top 25 programs nationally by U.S. News & World Report.

What makes this specific role both crucial and complex is that it demands an established leader to mentor a new Chief of Pediatric Orthopedics and create innovative strategies at a time of considerable growth while supporting the fundamental clinical and academic service construct.

Role and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for three core areas:

Clinical Leadership & Practice Building: You will be sought as a Senior Physician-Executive, mentor, liaison with internal and external constituents and a "program builder" to assist the Division Chief in establishing best processes and practices, driving clinical excellence and integration for Pediatric Orthopedics across our geographically-distributed Lehigh Valley Region and across the entire Jefferson enterprise. Executive Leadership & Enterprise Connectivity: You will fulfill a vital leadership role as the inaugural Senior Director of a major Subspecialty Division, a position that is being contemplated in all Jefferson Orthopedic Divisions, as manpower distribution and succession planning is prioritized. Additionally, there will be leadership opportunities at the Reilly Children’s Hospital level. Most critically, the Senior Director will bring his/her deep domain expertise and set of relationships in the field to facilitate the planned partnerships with one or more nationally-recognized Pediatric Hospitals who will be collaborating with our systems in clinical and academic realms. Academic Engagement: The Senior Director has the opportunity to engage with Residents across three existing and one emerging Orthopedic Residency Program. In association with the Chief, the Physician-in-Chief and the Vice-Chair for Academic Affairs, development of a Pediatric Orthopedic Fellowship would be supported when appropriate. Academic appointments through the esteemed Sidney Kimmel Medical College are available and encouraged for qualified candidates.
