Employment Type: Permanent / Direct Hire
Location
This opportunity is located in Quincy, California, offering a community-based practice setting in Northern California.
Healthcare Organization
Our client is seeking a Family Medicine Physician to join its team and provide comprehensive care across the lifespan. The position offers physicians the flexibility to choose between a 100% outpatient practice or a combination of outpatient and inpatient medicine.
The organization is located in a designated Health Professional Shortage Area (HPSA). HRSA notes that primary-care HPSA scores range from 0 to 25 and provides an official lookup for current scores. [data.hrsa.gov], [bhw.hrsa.gov]
The opportunity may also be attractive to physicians pursuing loan-repayment programs. For example, the federal NHSC Students to Service Loan Repayment Program requires participants to work at an NHSC-approved site with an HPSA score of 14 or higher. Final eligibility depends on the physician, site approval, program requirements, and current HPSA score. [nhsc.hrsa.gov]
Job Responsibilities
The physician may select from two practice models:
Option 1: 100% Outpatient Family Medicine
  • Provide comprehensive outpatient primary care
  • Treat patients across the full lifespan
  • Average approximately 18–22 patients per day
  • Current physician practice model is approximately 3–4 days per week

Option 2: Outpatient + Inpatient

  • Provide outpatient Family Medicine for four weeks
  • Every fifth week, transition to inpatient coverage
  • Round on hospitalized patients during the inpatient week
  • Average inpatient census of approximately 5 patients
  • Remain available for call during the assigned inpatient week

This structure provides the physician with an opportunity to choose between a traditional outpatient practice or maintain an inpatient component while practicing comprehensive Family Medicine.
Compensation & Benefits

  • Permanent, direct-hire position
  • Competitive compensation package
  • Flexible practice options
  • Outpatient-only or outpatient/inpatient model
  • Potential student loan repayment opportunities based on program and individual eligibility
  • Practice located within an HPSA-designated area
  • Additional compensation and benefits details available during the interview process

California's State Loan Repayment Program also supports eligible primary-care clinicians practicing in federally designated California HPSAs, although eligibility and available funding are program-specific. [hcai.ca.gov]
