Company History
Originally established as Sa-lantic Health Services, the organization was formed through the efforts of local residents and healthcare advocates who recognized the need for accessible medical services for underserved populations. With federal funding and a volunteer Board of Directors, comprehensive healthcare services were launched with a staff of just seven employees.
Over the years, the organization expanded its outreach efforts and healthcare services to meet the growing needs of communities throughout South Jersey. What began as a migrant health program evolved into a comprehensive community health center serving individuals and families across multiple counties. In 1992, the organization changed its name to Southern Jersey Family Medical Centers, Inc. to better reflect its broader mission and commitment to serving all residents, regardless of their ability to pay.
Today, SJFMC is a nonprofit Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) providing integrated primary care, pediatrics, women's health, behavioral health, dental services, specialty care, and community outreach programs. With multiple health centers located throughout Southern New Jersey, SJFMC serves more than 53,000 patients annually and employs a diverse team of healthcare professionals dedicated to improving community health outcomes.
