Company History

Ampla Health was founded in 1964 as a medical care project serving migrant and seasonal farm workers in Northern California under the State Farm Workers Health Service and Migrant Health Act Fund. The original organization, known as the Sutter-Yuba Farm Workers Health Project, operated as a night clinic within Sutter County General Hospital.

In 1973, the organization incorporated as a nonprofit under the name Northern Sacramento Valley Rural Health Project, Inc. This expansion allowed services to grow beyond Sutter and Yuba Counties into Butte, Colusa, and Glenn Counties, increasing healthcare access for underserved rural communities throughout the region.

In June 2011, the organization officially became Ampla Health, reflecting its continued growth and commitment to comprehensive community healthcare. Today, Ampla Health is a nonprofit Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) network providing medical, dental, behavioral health, pediatric, specialty, and supportive healthcare services across Northern California.

For more than 60 years, Ampla Health has remained dedicated to improving healthcare access for all individuals regardless of income, insurance status, language, or background while continuing its mission of serving medically underserved communities.
