Join a well-established, high-volume urology practice in beautiful Southern California for a long-term locum tenens opportunity. We are seeking a Board-Certified Urologist to provide continuity of care during a physician's 9-month sabbatical. This is a primarily outpatient position with a Monday–Friday schedule, no weekends, no hospital call, and minimal after-hours responsibilities. The ideal candidate is comfortable performing common office-based urology procedures and is interested in delivering exceptional patient care in a thriving, supportive practice. Potential opportunities for ASC procedures may also be available.
Job Responsibilities
Evaluate, diagnose, and treat a high volume of general urology patients.
Perform office-based urologic procedures, including prostate biopsies, cystoscopies, vasectomies, and hydrocele aspirations.
Manage follow-up care, treatment plans, and patient education.
Collaborate with an experienced Nurse Practitioner and office staff to ensure efficient patient care and workflow.
Document patient encounters accurately within the electronic medical record (transitioning from UroChart to the UNIO EMR platform).
Respond to occasional after-hours patient phone calls, providing medical guidance or directing patients to the emergency department when appropriate.
Perform elective ambulatory surgery center (ASC) procedures if credentialed and required.
Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care while maintaining continuity throughout the physician's nine-month leave.
Work closely with practice leadership to ensure a seamless transition and ongoing support for the established patient panel.
Qualifications
Active California medical license or ability to obtain one
Active DEA registration
Experience performing common office-based urology procedures
Comfortable managing a high-volume outpatient practice
Experience with BPH procedures (e.g., UroLift and Rezūm) is preferred but not required
Excellent clinical judgment, communication, and patient care skills
Ability to commit to a long-term locum assignment is highly preferred
Working Hours
Hours: Approximately 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Lunch: One-hour lunch break provided daily
No weekend coverage required
No hospital call or emergency room call
Minimal after-hours responsibilities, limited to occasional patient phone calls from the practice
Approximately 9-month assignment, beginning between early and late September
