Urologist

Position Summary:

Key Responsibilities:

• Clinical Care
• Provide comprehensive evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of urological conditions.
• Conduct outpatient urology clinics and inpatient consultations.
• Perform daily inpatient rounds for urology patients.
• Coordinate specialty referrals and multidisciplinary patient care when appropriate.
• Deliver discharge education and follow-up care instructions.

Surgical & Procedural Responsibilities:

• Perform a broad range of urologic procedures, including but not limited to:
• Cystoscopies
• Vasectomies
• Scrotal surgeries
• Ureteroscopies
• Transurethral procedures for prostate disease and bladder cancer
• General urological surgeries
• Endoscopic procedures
• Kidney, bladder, ureter, urethra, prostate, penis, testes, epididymis, spermatic cord, and scrotal procedures
• Incision and drainage of prostatic abscess
• Major abdominal and lymphatic procedures

The physician should also be proficient in:

• Holmium laser procedures
• Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy (ESWL)
• Fluoroscopy
• Robotic surgery certification is preferred but not required.

Specialty Services

• Perform urology-related specialty examinations, including:
• Compensation & Pension (C&P) exams
• Agent Orange evaluations
• Other VA-required specialty examinations related to urological conditions
• Medication Management
• Prescribe medications in accordance with VA policies.
• Comply with all VA medication management protocols.
• No sample medications may be distributed to patients.

Scheduling & Attendance

• Maintain timely attendance for all scheduled clinics and operating room assignments.
• Be physically present at scheduled clinic or operating room start times.
• Work on-site Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM.
• Notify the VA Contracting Officer Representative (COR) of any barriers affecting clinic wait times or consult completion.
