Position Overview
The Urologist will provide direct patient care and surgical services at the VA Medical Center in Fargo, ND. This role involves evaluating and treating patients in the outpatient clinic, performing urological procedures, and ensuring compliance with VA standards, HIPAA regulations, and medical licensing requirements.
Qualifications
- Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in any U.S. State, Territory, or Commonwealth (North Dakota license preferred but not required).
- Board Certified/Board Eligible by the American Board of Urology (ABU).
- Completion of an approved residency program in Urology (minimum 3 years in Urological surgery).
- Active NPI and DEA registration.
- Malpractice and medical liability insurance coverage.
- Current ACLS/BLS certifications (must be maintained throughout contract).
- Copies of degrees, accreditations, and annual OIG Statement required.
- No history of restricted, suspended, or revoked medical licenses.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care (approx. 90% of time) in the Urology outpatient clinic.
- Perform inpatient rounds and urological procedures including cystoscopies, vasectomies, scrotal surgeries, ureteroscopies, transurethral surgeries, and bladder cancer treatments.
- Conduct specialty exams (e.g., compensation and pension, Agent Orange evaluations).
- Plan and perform major urological procedures (prostate, bladder, kidney, urethra, scrotum, testes, penis, lymphatic, abdominal).
- Utilize holmium laser, ESWL, and fluoroscopy equipment.
- Provide discharge education and follow-up instructions for patients.
- Collaborate with consultants and interdisciplinary teams as needed.
- Ensure compliance with VA medication policies (no sample medications).
- Maintain punctuality for scheduled clinics and surgeries.
Work Schedule
- Hours: Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM (local time).
- Workload: 80 hours per pay period (no more than 40 hours per week).
- No call responsibilities or Federal holiday duties.
Additional Information
- Robotics certification preferred but not required.
- Contractor must notify the VA COR monthly of any obstacles to meeting performance measures.
