Urgent Care Physician – Locum Tenens Opportunity | Northeast Iowa

Opportunity Overview:

Join a well-established multispecialty group in Northeast Iowa as a Locum Tenens Urgent Care Physician. This opportunity offers flexible scheduling, a diverse patient population, and a collaborative team environment. The department currently includes 3 physicians, with 2 additional providers joining in January 2026.

Schedule & Hours:

Urgent Care Hours:

• Monday–Friday: 7:00 AM – 8:00 PM
• Saturday/Sunday/Holidays: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Typical Shift Options:

• 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
• 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM
• 2:00 PM – 8:00 PM
• Weekend/Holiday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Expected Shifts: 3–5 shifts per week
Patient Volume:

• 6-hour shift: 25–30 patients
• 12/13-hour shift: 50–60 patients

Clinical Scope:

Treat patients of all ages for a wide range of urgent care needs, including but not limited to:

• Sprains, fractures, lacerations
• Eye and ear problems
• Respiratory infections, flu, fever
• Skin infections, rashes
• Abdominal and back pain
• Urinary symptoms
• Reproductive tract infections
• Headaches, animal bites, and more

Requirements:

• Board Certification: Family Medicine
• Licensure: Active Iowa license highly preferred
  • IMLC LOQ required if no active Iowa license
• Certifications: ACLS, PALS preferred
• EMR Experience: Cerner
• Dress Code: Business Casual or Scrubs

Support & Orientation:

• Orientation provided by department chair and physician partners
• Support services available onsite
• Charting time is included in daily shift expectations

Hospital Information:

• Facility: 350-bed hospital located within 10 minutes of the clinic
• Trauma Level: II
• Privileges Required: Full credentialing package including Iowa Statewide Universal Practitioner Application, references, certifications, licenses, DEA, NPI, health attestation, TB screening, and more

Travel & Lodging:

• Locum firm will arrange housing and transportation
• Hotel options provided or subject to $100/night cap
• Flights and rental cars must be pre-approved within 30 days of assignment
• Nearest airports: Dubuque, Cedar Rapids, Moline
