Penrose Main Hospital in Colorado Springs, CO needs a locum vascular surgeon for 24-hour call coverage, starting October 2026, with ongoing dates beginning January 2027 once schedules release. $3,080 per 24-hour call day, $4,620 on holidays, $404.25/hr callback, $606.38/hr holiday callback. Confirmed October stint: Oct 7-11.

Job Responsibilities

Provide 24-hour call coverage for vascular surgery, including surgical treatment of blunt and other vascular trauma. Abdominal open and endovascular procedures required. Level II trauma setting, 250 beds, 3-4 admissions per day, adult and geriatric population. No dedicated support staff. Chart in Epic.

Qualifications

Board certified in Vascular Surgery required. Active Colorado license or IMLC LOQ in hand required at time of submission. Active DEA highly preferred, required for credentialing (a transferred DEA will be considered but must remain active for the full assignment). Clean malpractice/background required. Credentialing runs 60-90 days, typically faster (site targets 30 days), emergency temp privileges available within a week.

Working Hours

24-hour call, 7am-7am, with 4 gratis hours. Confirmed: Oct 7-11, 2026. Ongoing dates begin January 2027, average 10-12 call days/month.
