Trauma Surgeon Locum Opportunity – Pennsylvania

We are seeking a Board Certified Trauma Surgeon with Surgical Critical Care fellowship training for a 26-week locum opportunity in DuBois, Pennsylvania. This is a Level II Trauma Center with an ongoing need for approximately 7–10 shifts per month. Candidates who can cover the priority October dates will receive immediate consideration.

Assignment Details

• Start Date: October 5, 2026
• Initial Assignment: 26 weeks
• Ongoing through March 2027
• 1 physician needed
• Approximately 7–10 shifts per month
• Priority October availability required for consideration

Priority Coverage Dates

• October 5–7: 7:00 AM–7:00 PM
• October 9–11: 7:00 PM–7:00 AM

Schedule

• 12-hour shifts
• Day and night coverage
• Weekend coverage required
• Scheduled coverage plus call
• Approximately 7–10 shifts per month

Practice Setting

• Level II Trauma Center
• Acute Care Hospital
• 272 beds
• 4 dedicated trauma bays
• Adult patient population
• Cerner EMR

Staffing & Support

• Weekdays: 2 surgeons during daytime hours
  • 1 Trauma Surgeon
  • 1 Emergency General Surgeon
• Weekends: 1 surgeon
• Backup Trauma Surgeon available days and nights
• Backup response time approximately 15 minutes

Clinical Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive Trauma Surgery coverage
• Evaluate and manage adult trauma patients
• Operative and non-operative trauma management
• Emergency Trauma Surgery
• Manage complex injuries involving:
  • Abdominal trauma
  • Thoracic trauma
  • Orthopedic trauma
  • Vascular trauma
  • Neurosurgical trauma

Requirements

• Board Certification required
• Surgical Critical Care fellowship required
• Active Pennsylvania medical license required
• Facility is not willing to license
• ATLS required
• DEA required
• 1–2 years of post-fellowship experience required
• Cerner experience required

Credentialing

• Emergency privileges required for the October dates
• Active Pennsylvania license required for October coverage
• Clean background strongly preferred for emergency privileges
• Minor malpractice settlements may be considered

Ideal Candidate

A Board Certified Trauma Surgeon with Surgical Critical Care fellowship training, an active Pennsylvania license, and at least 1–2 years of post-fellowship experience who can immediately commit to the October 5–7 and October 9–11 coverage dates and provide ongoing monthly coverage through March 2027.
