Job description
Locums Cardiothoracic Surgery coverage in California with a predictable 24 hour call structure and a mix of inpatient service coverage plus occasional clinic. Ongoing need at 6 to 10 days per month.
Highlights
- Long term locums need, 6 to 10 days per month
- 24 hour call coverage format, consistent 7am to 7am shifts
- Flexible scheduling per the service coverage needs
Practice Setting
- Mix of inpatient and outpatient responsibilities
- Inpatient role includes rounding on the Cardiothoracic Service Unit twice daily
- Cardiac and thoracic surgical consults in the hospital and Emergency Department
- Occasional clinic, typically 4 to 8 hours per week of new and follow up visits
Schedule
- 24 hour call coverage
- Scheduled hours are 7am to 7am
- Coverage need is 6 to 10 days per month
- Estimated start in early January 2027
Cases and Procedures
- Coronary artery bypass grafting
- Aortic valve replacement, mitral valve repair and replacement
- Aortic dissection management
- Pericardial window, pulmonary decortication, thoracic trauma
Requirements
- Must be an MD or DO
- Board Certified Cardiothoracic Surgery, Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery CAQ required
- Active California medical license required, will not wait for license
