Assignment Details
Start: October 1, 2026
End: Ongoing/indefinite
Schedule: 7–10 days per month, with up to 14 days available
Preferred blocks: Connecting weekday coverage bookended by weekends
Coverage type: Beeper call only
Call ratio: 1:2 with a 20-minute response time
Volume: Approximately 4–5 consults, patients, and admissions
Setting: Inpatient; Level II trauma; 99 beds
Support: 3 APPs, 1 MA, and office staff
EMR: Epic
Credentialing: Approximately 90 days
Clinical Details
Required scope: Comprehensive adult cardiac and thoracic surgery
Required procedures: Open and endoscopic cardiothoracic surgery, on- and off-pump CABG, congenital defect repair, valve repair/replacement, cardiac and thoracic aneurysm repair, lung resection/VATS, chest wall, pleural, esophageal, and diaphragm procedures
Additional required skills: AICD, LVAD, TAVR, bronchoscopy, ventilator management, central/arterial/PA lines, and IABP
Excluded scope: General vascular surgery and permanent pacemaker placement
Separate vascular surgery service available
Requirements
Board-certified or board-eligible Cardiothoracic Surgeon
Any state license accepted; Minnesota license obtained during credentialing
Current ACLS and ATLS certifications
Active DEA
