Description
Noor Locums is seeking a Cardiothoracic Surgeon for ongoing 24-hour beeper call coverage in Minnesota, beginning October 1, 2026.
Coverage is needed 7–10 days per month, with up to 14 days available. The preferred schedule is flexible, with an ideal arrangement consisting of bookend weekends with the connecting week in between.
This is an inpatient Cardiothoracic Surgery-only opportunity. A separate vascular service manages vascular patient needs. The physician will provide Cardiothoracic Surgery call coverage, including patient evaluation, admissions, consultations, and surgical management.
The call schedule has an approximately 1:2 call ratio, with an expected 20-minute response time. Average activity includes approximately 4–5 phone consultations, patients seen, and admissions per 24 hours.
The hospital is a Level II Trauma Center and stroke-certified facility with a 99-bed department. The facility uses Epic EMR and provides vendor malpractice insurance, travel, and lodging.
Job Responsibilities
Provide 7–10 days of coverage per month, with up to 14 days available
Evaluate and manage inpatient Cardiothoracic Surgery patients
Handle surgical consultations and admissions
Perform Cardiothoracic surgical procedures as clinically appropriate
Provide cardiac and thoracic surgical management
Manage postoperative and acute surgical patients
Perform or manage CABG procedures as appropriate
Perform open and endoscopic Cardiothoracic procedures
Perform lung resections, including VATS
Perform chest wall and pleural procedures
Perform esophageal and diaphragmatic procedures
Manage valvular disease and related surgical procedures
Manage aneurysm repair cases
Provide ventilation management
Perform bronchoscopy
Evaluate and manage acute volume and blood pressure issues
Insert central and arterial lines as needed
Manage PA catheter and IABP procedures as appropriate
Respond to clinical calls within the required 20-minute timeframe
Document patient care using Epic EMR
Qualifications
Cardiothoracic Surgery fellowship required
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Cardiothoracic Surgery
ACLS required
ATLS required
Cardiothoracic Surgery experience required
Must be able to provide inpatient Cardiothoracic Surgery coverage
Must meet facility credentialing requirements
Approximately 90-day credentialing timeframe
