Job description
We are seeking a highly skilled, patient-focused Cardiovascular Surgeon to join our growing, high-volume surgical team. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in a broad spectrum of adult cardiac and vascular procedures, with valuable experience in general thoracic surgery.
In this role, you will collaborate closely with our multidisciplinary team of cardiologists, pulmonologists, oncologists, and intensive care specialists to provide exceptional, comprehensive operative care. While the primary focus of this position is advanced cardiovascular surgery, the ability to manage and perform essential thoracic interventions is highly beneficial to meet our community's diverse clinical needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Surgical Excellence: Perform advanced cardiovascular procedures including, but not limited to, CABG (on/off-pump), valve repair/replacement (AVR/MVR), TAVR, aortic surgery, and peripheral vascular interventions.
Thoracic Scope: Utilize general thoracic surgery experience to perform lung resections, mediastinal mass excisions, video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS), and chest wall procedures.
Patient Continuity: Conduct comprehensive pre-operative evaluations, develop tailored surgical plans, and manage post-operative recovery within the CVICU and dedicated cardiac step-down units.
Collaborative Care: Actively participate in multidisciplinary tumor boards, heart team conferences, and quality improvement initiatives to optimize patient safety and clinical outcomes.
On-Call Duties: Share equitable call coverage for emergency cardiovascular and thoracic surgical interventions with the existing surgical team.

Active MO State License or IMLC.
Board Status: Board Certified or Board Eligible (Certification must be obtained within 5 years of residency).
Minimum Years Experience (if applicable): None Required
Flu vaccination: Required or Need Medical or religious exemption.
Covid vaccination: Required or Need Medical or religious exemption.
Qualifications
Education: MD or DO degree from an accredited school of medicine.
Training: Completion of an ACGME-accredited residency in General Surgery and an accredited fellowship in Cardiothoracic Surgery. Certification: Board Certified or Board Eligible by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery (ABTS) or equivalent. Licensure: Eligible for an unrestricted medical license in the state of Missouri.
Experience: Proven competency in a high-volume cardiac program. Demonstrated experience or sub-specialty exposure to general vascular, general thoracic oncology, or non-cardiac thoracic pathology is strongly preferred.
Working Hours
If there is a candidate that cannot do the entire stretch, the facility is ok for coverage till Jan 2nd.
In 2027 there will be an ongoing need for 1 or 2 weeks per month.
Preference will be given to the candidates who are in driving distance , have No malpractice history and are able to commit to 1 to 2 weeks per month in 2027.

Collaborative and experienced heart team includes 5 Interventional Cardiologists, 2 General Cardiologists, 1 Electrophysiologist, and 2 Cardiovascular & Thoracic Surgeons
Dedicated CV OR team, including anesthesia, perfusion, and CVICU support
Shared call model with robust APP support (clinic, hospital, and call)
Facilities & Technology
Three dedicated CVORs - 1 hybrid room and 2 dedicated ORs equipped with advanced technology including DaVinci Xi robot.
Highly skilled and dedicated cath lab team
Transitioning to Epic EMR for enhanced efficiency and care coordination
