Facility:
This respected hospital is part of a leading healthcare system in Richmond offering comprehensive medical services. The facility features 21 operating rooms and is equipped with modern technology including EPIC electronic medical records system, making it an excellent environment for thoracic surgical practice with strong support from OR staff, ICU teams, and hospitalists.
Opportunity:
Physician - Surgery - Thoracic
Job Details:
• Coverage needed for multiple dates in 2026, including specific January and February shifts • Position serves as backup to the thoracic team (currently has 2 providers) • Hospital-based practice primarily focused on acute care • Treats adult and geriatric patient populations • Performs 2-3 cases per day on average • Required procedures include: Bronchoscopy, Robot-Assisted Thoracic Surgery, Video-Assisted Thoracoscopic Surgery (VATS), Navigational Bronchoscopy, Endobronchial Ultrasound (EBUS), Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS) • Additional required procedures: Tube Thoracostomy, Tracheostomy, Pericardial Window, Thoracic aortic aneurysms, Mediastinoscopy, Segmentectomy, Lobectomy, Bilobectomy, Pneumonectomy, Thoracotomy, Decortication • Areas of care include: Achalasia, Advanced Lung Disease, Anti-Reflux Surgery, Barrett's Esophagitis, Chest Wall Tumors, Diaphragmatic conditions, Esophageal Cancer, Lung Cancer/Nodules, Mediastinal Masses, Mesothelioma, and other thoracic conditions • Board Certification required • Active Virginia medical license required (no exceptions) • BLS and ACLS certifications required • Provider must be local as only mileage is reimbursed • Weekend and on-call coverage required • Provider must submit a flat rate for 24-hour coverage including all gratis hours • Estimated credentialing timeframe is 120 days

Competitive hourly rates with weekly pay and malpractice included.
