This respected healthcare facility is part of a well-established hospital system providing comprehensive medical services to the Richmond community. The hospital features 21 operating rooms with full OR support, ICU support, and hospitalist coverage, creating an excellent environment for thoracic surgical care.

Physician - Surgery - Thoracic

Job Details:
• Locum Tenens thoracic surgery coverage with immediate openings in January and February 2026 (additional dates to follow) • Coverage includes both St. Mary's Hospital and Thoracic Surgery outpatient location in Richmond • Primary focus on hospital-based acute care with 2-3 cases per day • Procedures required include Bronchoscopy, Robot-Assisted Thoracic Surgery, VATS, Navigational Bronchoscopy, EBUS, EUS • Additional required procedures: Tube Thoracostomy, Tracheostomy, Pericardial Window, Thoracic aortic aneurysms, Mediastinoscopy • Surgical procedures include Segmentectomy, Lobectomy, Bilobectomy, Pneumonectomy, Thoracotomy, and Decortication • Additional areas of care include Achalasia, Advanced Lung Disease, Anti-Reflux Surgery, Barrett's Esophagitis, Chest Wall Tumors • Management of Diaphragm Plication, Diaphragmatic Hernias, Dysphagia, Esophageal Cancer, Lung Cancer, and Lung Nodules • Care for conditions including Mediastinal Masses, Mesothelioma, Pleural Effusion, Pneumothorax, and Thoracic Outlet Syndrome • Treatment of Rib Fractures and Plating, Thymonas, Tracheal Stenosis, and Tracheostomy • EMR system is EPIC with full OR support, ICU support, and hospitalist availability • Patient population includes adult and geriatric patients • Must be board certified in thoracic surgery with active VA license (no exceptions) • BLS and ACLS certification required • Provider must be local as only mileage is reimbursed (at IRS standard rate) • Estimated credentialing timeframe is 120 days

Compensation:
Competitive hourly rates with weekly pay and malpractice included.
