Neurosurgeon Needed | Level I Trauma Center | Starting January 2027
Protean Med is seeking a Board-Certified Neurosurgeon for weekend call coverage at a leading Level I trauma center in Colorado Springs. This opportunity involves adult and trauma neurosurgical cases, including cranial and spinal procedures.
Location: Colorado Springs, Colorado
Position Type: Locum Tenens
Coverage Period: January 25 – April 30, 2027
Schedule: Every weekend, Friday 7:00 AM – Monday 7:00 AM
EMR: Epic
Important: Providers must commit to the full Friday-to-Monday coverage period. Partial weekend coverage will not be considered.
Clinical Responsibilities
- Adult and trauma neurosurgery
- Cranial procedures, tumor removal, and intracranial hemorrhage management
- Traumatic brain injury and neurocritical care
- Shunt placement/revision, ventriculostomy, and external ventricular drain management
- Spine surgery, including discectomy, laminectomy, fusion, and spinal instrumentation
- Lumbar drains, lumbar punctures, and intracranial pressure monitoring
- Supervision of APPs as applicable
Requirements
- Board Certified in Neurological Surgery
- Active Colorado medical license or active IMLC with LOQ in hand
- Ability to perform spinal instrumentation and all required procedures
- Clean malpractice and background history
- ACLS, BLS, and DEA preferred; must be willing to obtain as needed
- Recent NPDB Self-Query Report
- Specific availability dates and number of weekends/shifts available
- Acknowledgment of mandatory Epic training requirements
Credentialing: Approximately 90 days.
