Job description
We are seeking a Neurosurgeon for a locum tenens position in Santa Paula, CA. This is a long-term locum tenens opportunity focused on adult neurosurgical trauma call with no clinic responsibilities. Please see below for more information.
- Level II Trauma Center
Job Responsibilities
No clinic responsibilities
Manage adult cranial trauma, spine trauma, and high cervical trauma and injuries
Manage emergent operative neurosurgical trauma cases, with most calls originating from the ER or surgical service
Manage neurosurgical ICU patients within a closed ICU model, with ICU physicians serving as primary
Callback volume averages approximately 3-4 cases per week, with surgical cases averaging approximately eight hours
Perform decompressive craniectomy for trauma and stroke
Perform craniotomy with evacuation of epidural or subdural hematoma
Perform cranialization of sinus for CSF leak
Perform ICP monitor and EVD placement
Perform lumbar drain placement
Perform spinal decompression
Perform spinal fusion, including cervical, thoracic, and lumbar
Utilize available OR technology including Brainlab, Loop-X spinal navigation, Zeiss Kinevo microscope, and Zeiss Pentero microscope
Collaborate with Advanced Practice Providers and trauma surgery support within the service line
Qualifications
Active California medical license required
Working Hours
24-hour beeper call
2 hours gratis
No clinic
