Job description
Northern Arizona Healthcare is seeking two (2) Board-Certified / Board-Eligible Neurosurgeons for short-term locum coverage at its flagship acute care hospital in Flagstaff. This is a high-acuity, trauma-heavy service with strong APP support and modern OR technology.

24-hour beeper call coverage

Current Coverage Blocks(future dates TBD):

7:00 AM 2/21/2026 – 7:00 AM 2/26/2026

7:00 AM 4/29/2026 – 7:00 AM 5/4/2026

Day, night, and weekend responsibility included

All orientation hours are billable
Clinical Volume & Scope

Average patients per day: ~6

Average surgeries per day: ~6

Case mix: Trauma only (no elective cases)

Navigation & Imaging:

Two O-arm platforms

Stealth cranial navigation

Microscopy:
-
Four modern microscopes (Zeiss and Leica)

Vendors:
-
Primary: Globus, Medtronic
-
Other vendors permitted (may require travel from Phoenix)

New implant types require pre-approval
-
Post-Op Care & Support
-
All neurosurgery patients admitted to Trauma or Hospitalist services
-
24/7 dedicated Neurosurgery PA support
-
APP team manages post-op care and ensures outpatient follow-up in Neurosurgery clinic
Requirements
-
Board Certification: BC or BE in Neurosurgery
-
License: Active Arizona license required (IMLC candidates will be considered)

DEA: Required (AZ registered)
-
Certifications: BLS
-
Credentialing Timeframe: ~30 days
-
Vaccinations: COVID-19 and Flu required (medical/religious exemptions allowed)
