Position Overview
We are seeking a qualified General Surgeon for a locum tenens opportunity providing clinic, operating room, and hospital coverage. This assignment offers a flexible schedule with approximately 7-10 coverage days every 1-2 months, depending on facility needs.Schedule & Coverage
Clinic/OR: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PMCall: 24-hour weekend call coverage
Coverage: Approximately 7-10 days every 1-2 months
Assignment Duration: 6 months, with ongoing coverage needs
Facility: 25-bed hospital
Setting: Clinic and hospital
Upcoming Coverage Dates:
- February 4-11
- April 1-10
- June 11-20
- Ongoing coverage thereafter
Clinical Responsibilities
- Provide General Surgery consultations and evaluations.
- Manage hospital admissions and inpatient rounding.
- Perform clinic follow-ups, wound care, and preoperative/postoperative care.
- Provide operating room coverage, with approximately 1-2 OR days per assignment depending on patient volume.
- Deliver independent clinical coverage as needed.
Required Procedures
Candidates must be comfortable performing:- Appendectomies
- Cholecystectomies
- Hernia repairs
- Laparoscopic procedures
- Endoscopy
Requirements
- MD/DO with board certification in General Surgery.
- Current ACLS and BLS certifications from AHA or the American Red Cross.
- Recent surgical case logs or clinical activity documentation.
- Proficiency with Epic EMR.
- Ability to provide independent coverage.
- Current flu vaccination.
