Call-only coverage with no scheduled clinic
Consistent Thursday–Monday coverage blocks
Every week or every other week available
2 physician openings
Ongoing assignment beginning January 2027
Assignment Details
Start: January 1, 2027; ongoing
Schedule: Thursday 7:00 AM–Monday 7:00 AM
Frequency: Weekly or every other week
Coverage Type: Call only
Call: Beeper, with a 30-minute response requirement
Setting: Inpatient General Surgery
Call Ratio: Listed as 1:4
Patient Volume: Approximately 8 patients per shift
Phone Consults: Approximately 3
Rounding: Assigned and unassigned patients
Admissions: Hospitalists handle admissions
Facility: Level III trauma center, 15 departmental beds
Support: 4 RNs and 1 office staff member
EMR: Epic
Credentialing: Approximately 60 days
Temporary Privileges: Not available
Clinical Details
Adult General Surgery required
Trauma Surgery required
Inpatient surgical consultations and emergency coverage
Laparoscopic surgery preferred
Laparoscopic appendectomy preferred
Laparoscopic cholecystectomy preferred
Laparoscopic hernia repair preferred
Nissen fundoplication preferred
Chest tube insertion preferred
Central line insertion preferred
No pediatric or neonatal surgery required
No GI endoscopy or vascular surgery required
No APP or resident supervision required
Requirements
Board-certified or board-eligible in General Surgery
Active Indiana medical license required
Current ATLS and BLS certifications
Active DEA
Experience with adult General Surgery and trauma cases
Comfortable with 30-minute beeper call response
Clean NPDB preferred
Local or drivable physicians preferred
Availability for recurring Thursday–Monday coverage blocks
