Description
Noor Locums is seeking a Board-Certified General Surgeon for an ongoing opportunity in New Mexico, beginning ASAP.
This position offers an opportunity to provide both inpatient and outpatient General Surgery services, with ongoing beeper call coverage. The physician will manage surgical patients, admissions, consultations, and assigned rounding responsibilities.
The practice sees approximately 7–10 patients per shift, with a 32-bed department. Call is provided via beeper with a required 30-minute response time. The hospital is a Level III Trauma Center and stroke-certified facility and uses Medhost EMR.
This is a long-term opportunity associated with a permanent search, making it a potential fit for a General Surgeon interested in extended coverage.
Job Responsibilities
Provide ongoing beeper call coverage
Evaluate and manage surgical patients
Perform surgical consultations and admissions
Round on inpatient and outpatient surgical patients
Perform General Surgery procedures as clinically appropriate
Manage adult surgical and trauma patients
Perform laparoscopic procedures
Perform appendectomies
Perform cholecystectomies
Perform chest tube insertions
Perform central line insertions
Provide ventilation management
Respond to calls within the required 30-minute timeframe
Document patient care using Medhost EMR
Qualifications
Board Certified in General Surgery
Active New Mexico medical license
BLS required
ACLS required
General Surgery experience
Adult and trauma surgery experience
Laparoscopic surgery experience
Hospital/surgery center privileges required
Temporary privileges available
Must be able to provide both inpatient and outpatient coverage
Must meet facility credentialing requirements
