Surgical NP/PA Locum Tenens Opportunity – First Assist + Surgical Floor | New York - (DM)

Opportunity Highlights

• Combination of Surgical First Assist OR coverage and Surgical Floor responsibilities
• Primarily supporting General Surgery, OB/GYN, and Orthopedic patients
• Adult acute-care patient population
• Supportive multidisciplinary team
• 109-bed acute-care hospital
• Patient ratio approximately 1:10–15

Specific Coverage Needed

• Dec 14–18: 7:00 AM–5:00 PM
• Dec 18–21: 5:00 PM–7:00 AM
• Dec 28–30: Three 12-hour shifts
• Weeknight Call: 5:00 PM–7:00 AM
• Weekend Call: Friday 5:00 PM–Monday 7:00 AM
  • Weekend rounding: Saturday & Sunday, 8:00 AM–12:00 PM

Clinical Responsibilities

Operating Room / First Assist:

• Surgical first assisting
• Positioning patients for procedures
• Hemostasis and control of bleeding
• Wound and vessel cauterization
• Placement of clamps and sutures
• Skin closure with sutures, staples, or adhesives
• Suction, drainage, and irrigation
• Patient immobilization and operative support

Surgical Floor:

• Patient rounding and progress notes
• Managing orders
• Discharges
• Consults
• Ongoing inpatient management
• Collaboration with surgeons and the healthcare team

Requirements

• NP or PA
• Active New York license in hand
• Minimum 2 years of recent experience
• Robotics experience required
• Epic experience required
• AHA BLS, ACLS & ATLS required
• AHA or RQI certifications accepted
• Board Certification required
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Residents/Fellows cannot be accepted

Work Environment

Hospital-based, inpatient surgical setting with OR and medical-surgical floor responsibilities. The provider will work closely with surgeons, anesthesia, nursing staff, and other advanced practice providers.
