General Surgeon Needed | Flexible Locums Schedule with Ongoing Opportunities

A community-based hospital in North Carolina is seeking a Board-Certified General Surgeon to provide locum tenens coverage. This opportunity offers a balanced mix of clinic, operating room, inpatient responsibilities, and call coverage with potential for ongoing PRN needs.

Coverage Dates Available

(Providers do not need to be available for all dates)

• November 4 at 7:00 AM – November 9 at 3:00 PM
• November 15 at 7:00 AM – November 18 at 7:00 AM
• December 30 at 7:00 AM – January 4 at 7:00 AM

Additional PRN coverage opportunities may be available beyond these dates.

Practice Details

• Mix of inpatient, outpatient, and call coverage
• Solo call coverage (1:1)
• Includes nights and weekends
• Average clinic volume: ~25 patients/day
• Surgical volume: up to 8 elective cases/day
• Average inpatient census: 2
• Average admissions: 1/day
• May include ICU/Critical Care responsibilities
• Coverage includes ED consults and procedures while on call
• EMR: EPIC

Common Procedures

• Upper & lower endoscopy/scopes
• Cholecystectomy
• Appendectomy
• Food bolus management
• Bowel obstruction treatment
• Hernia repair

Requirements

• Board-Certified General Surgeon
• Preference for 5+ years of post-training experience
• BLS required
• ACLS + PALS required only if pursuing conscious sedation privileges
• Orientation required the day prior to first scheduled shift
