We are seeking an experienced General Surgeon for a locums opportunity in Potsdam, NY. This role involves acute care surgery and trauma call coverage at a Level III Trauma Center. The provider will manage surgical emergencies, inpatient consults, and collaborate with a dedicated care team in a well-supported hospital environment. Emergency privileges are available for expedited onboarding
Job Responsibilities
Manage trauma and emergency surgical cases (Level III Trauma)
Perform surgical procedures and inpatient consults as needed
Collaborate with anesthesia and nursing staff during procedures
Provide care for general surgery inpatients when called back
Maintain accurate documentation using EPIC EMR
Ensure adherence to hospital policies and patient safety standards
Qualifications
Active New York medical license required
AHA BLS, ACLS, and ATLS certifications required
Minimum 2 years of recent surgical experience
Trauma experience required
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Working Hours
Coverage needed: May 22 – May 28
Ongoing need: 1 week per month

Excellent clinical decision-making and problem-solving abilities
