Locums General Surgeon Opportunity in NC!

Location: Ahoskie, NC

Position Overview:

A hospital in Ahoskie, North Carolina is seeking a Board-Certified General Surgeon to provide locum tenens call coverage. This is an inpatient-only role with call responsibilities, including nights and weekends.

Providers must arrive the day before their first scheduled shift or the morning of the first shift for orientation.

• May 9, 2026 (7:00 AM) – May 13, 2026 (11:00 AM)

• May 22, 2026 (11:00 AM) – May 25, 2026 (11:00 AM)

• June 5, 2026 (11:00 AM) – June 8, 2026 (11:00 AM)

• September 4, 2026 (11:00 AM) – September 7, 2026 (11:00 AM)

• October 2, 2026 (11:00 AM) – October 5, 2026 (11:00 AM)

• November 25, 2026 (11:00 AM) – November 30, 2026 (11:00 AM)

Position Details:

• Inpatient only

• Call coverage (nights & weekends required)

• Not required to remain on-site while on call

• Average patients per day: 7–8

• Average admissions per day: 1–2

• Average admissions per night: 1–2

• Approximately 50 surgical cases per month

• No code response required

• No ER backup responsibilities

Procedures Required:

• Appendectomy

• Strangulated hernia repair

• Cholecystectomy

• Incision & drainage (I&D) procedures

• Other emergent general surgery procedures

Facility Details:

• 114-bed hospital

• 15-bed Emergency Department (low volume)

• 10-bed ICU

• Approximately 21,000 patient visits per year

• 24-hour rotational shifts

• Air and ground transport available for rapid patient transfer
