Job description
Provides musculoskeletal specialty care and medical to patients.
Duties and ResponsibilitiesEssential Functions:
- Provides surgical and non-surgical orthopedic care to patients. Provides appropriate follow up care.
- Consults with resident staff and/or Hospital staff physicians as needed.
- Participates in on-call schedule for orthopedic services in the practice and/or hospital setting
- Assists with developing and maintaining departmental quality assessment and continuing education programs.
- Performs a variety of administrative duties such as recommending policy and program changes, coordinating patient care and educational activities, and assisting with the development of innovative projects.
- Documents patient encounters promptly in the office and hospital setting according to standards determined by WellSpan Medical Group
- Participates in Medical Staff activities as required and/or as requested.
- Observes the Bylaws and Rules and Regulations of the Hospital and the Medical Staff.
- Demonstrates a commitment to patient, visitor and staff by: complying with all applicable safety regulations; learning the impact of medical errors and methodology that will lead to reduction of errors; reporting actual and potential errors, as well as hazardous conditions; identifying opportunities to standardize processes and "error proof" systems that will lead to increased safety; and participating in safety education programs and root cause analyses as required.
- Provides outstanding service to all customers; fosters teamwork; and practices fiscal responsibility through improvement and innovation.
- Assists with the medical education program at the graduate and undergraduate levels.
- Performs other related duties as identified.

Minimum Education:
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) Required or
- Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) Required
- Licensed Medical Physician and Surgeon Upon Hire Required or
- Licensed Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine Upon Hire Required
- Certification from the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery or the American Osteopathic Board of Orthopedic Surgery. Upon Hire Required and
- Completion of an appropriate residency program. Upon Hire Required and
- Must qualify and be a member of the Medical Staff of one or more WellSpan hospitals. Upon Hire Required
- Clinical skills and knowledge of emergency medicine techniques and occupational medicine.
