Position Details
Start Date: December 29, 2025
Duration: Ongoing coverage through May (7–10 days/month)
Coverage Type: 24-hour call (6a–6a)
Setting: Inpatient + ED surgical coverage
Practice Environment: Level IV Trauma Center
EMR: Athena & Meditech
Robotics: DaVinci Xi available
Support: Surgical First Assists
Schedule
- 24-hour beeper call
- Transfers + inpatient responsibility
- Phone consults: approx. 5–6 per day
- Patients seen: approx. 3 per 24 hours
- Response time: 20 minutes
Clinical Scope
- Appendectomy
- Cholecystectomy
- Hernia repairs
- Basic laparoscopy
- Breast surgery
- GI endoscopy (upper, lower, sigmoidoscopy, colonoscopy)
- Chest tubes, central lines
- OB/GYN C-section & D&C (as needed)
Pediatrics & neonates not required
Requirements
- Board Certified/Board Eligible General Surgeon
- BLS
- NM license (or willingness to obtain)
- No supervision or admissions required
- Credentialing: ~90 days
- No temp privileges
