Client School of Medicine is seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Acute Care Surgeon to provide comprehensive surgical care for patients with emergent and urgent surgical conditions at affiliated hospitals and clinical facilities in Lubbock, Texas.
The successful candidate will deliver high-quality trauma and acute care surgical services, manage patients throughout the perioperative continuum, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across emergency medicine, critical care, and surgical specialties.
This academic faculty position also provides opportunities to educate and mentor medical students, residents, and fellows while contributing to clinical research, quality improvement initiatives, and the advancement of evidence-based surgical care.

Job Responsibilities
Acute Care & Trauma Surgery:
Provide expert surgical care for patients requiring emergency, urgent, and trauma interventions.
Perform operative and bedside surgical procedures while managing preoperative and postoperative patient care.
Evaluate and treat critically ill surgical patients in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
Provide inpatient surgical consultations and participate in trauma and emergency call coverage.
Deliver patient-centered care while maintaining the highest standards of safety and clinical excellence.
Multidisciplinary Collaboration:
Collaborate with specialists across:
Emergency Medicine
Critical Care
General Surgery
Plastic Surgery
Ophthalmology
Other surgical and medical specialties
Coordinate complex trauma care, including soft-tissue reconstruction and wound management.
Support comprehensive treatment planning for patients with complex surgical needs.
Academic & Research Responsibilities:
Educate and mentor medical students, residents, and fellows in an academic healthcare environment.
Participate in surgical education, clinical conferences, and training activities.
Engage in clinical research and scholarly activities aligned with Client’s academic mission.
Contribute to quality improvement programs, patient safety initiatives, and evidence-based practice development.
Qualifications
MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
Completion of an ACGME-accredited General Surgery residency program.
Board Certified or Board Eligible in General Surgery.
Eligible for unrestricted Texas medical licensure and hospital privileges.
Demonstrated clinical expertise in acute care and trauma surgery.
Strong ability to manage complex surgical cases and critically ill patients.
Excellent communication, clinical judgment, documentation, and interpersonal skills.
Commitment to providing equitable, evidence-based, and patient-centered healthcare.
Preferred Qualifications:
Fellowship training in:
Acute Care Surgery
Trauma Surgery
Surgical Critical Care
Experience managing complex trauma cases involving soft tissue injuries and reconstruction.
Experience collaborating with Plastic Surgery teams for wound management and reconstruction.
Knowledge of ophthalmic trauma considerations and coordination with Ophthalmology specialists.
Prior experience in an academic medical center environment.
Record of clinical research, publications, or scholarly contributions.
