Locum Rheumatologist – Massachusetts – Outpatient Clinic Coverage (DM)

Duration: Approximately 24 weeks with potential for extension
Start Date: September 2026
Schedule: Monday–Friday clinic coverage with rotating call

We are seeking a Board-Certified Rheumatologist for an outpatient clinic locum tenens opportunity in Massachusetts. This is an in-person position providing clinic and call coverage. Remote opportunities are not available.

Job Responsibilities

• Provide outpatient rheumatology clinic coverage.
• Provide in-person patient care and clinical evaluation.
• Clinic hours are Monday–Friday between 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM.
• Clinic sessions are variable, with approximately 4 hours of patient-facing time per session, either in the morning or afternoon.
• Manage approximately 18 patients per day.
• Participate in rotating evening call coverage.
• Provide weekend call coverage approximately 1 weekend out of every 3.
• Collaborate with other rheumatologists and orthopedic providers.
• Document patient care using Epic EMR.

Qualifications

• MD required.
• Board Certification in Rheumatology required.
• Active Massachusetts medical license required.
• Current flu vaccination required.
• Current or most recent direct supervisor reference required.
• Prior locum/travel experience preferred.
• Must be comfortable providing in-person clinic and call coverage.
• Remote coverage is not available.

Working Hours

• Monday–Friday
• Clinic hours between 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM
• Variable 4-hour patient-facing clinic sessions
• Rotating evening call
• Approximately 1 weekend of call every 3 weeks
• Must be available for 6 shifts per week
