Position Overview:
We are seeking a Board-Certified Rheumatologist for a six-month locum tenens assignment beginning August 1, 2026. This position offers a balanced schedule of outpatient clinic care and inpatient rounding, supported by a dedicated clinical team and modern EMR system.
Schedule:
- Monday – Friday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Clinic Hours: 8:00 AM – 2:30 PM
- Inpatient Rounding: 2:30 PM – 5:00 PM
- Night Call: 5:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- Weekend Call: 1:7 rotation
- Friday 5:00 PM – Monday 7:00 AM (24-hour call coverage)
Clinical Responsibilities:
- See 16–18 patients per day in clinic
- Perform comprehensive patient evaluations, including histories and physical exams
- Order and interpret diagnostic studies (MRI, ultrasound, lab work)
- Diagnose and manage chronic rheumatologic conditions
- Develop and implement long-term treatment plans to improve outcomes and quality of life
- Perform procedures such as joint injections and aspirations (preferred, not required)
Support & Practice Environment:
- Dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) and Medical Assistant (MA)
- Collaborative, team-oriented setting
- EMR: Epic
Job Responsibilities

Qualifications
Board Certification in Rheumatology (required)
Active BLS and ACLS certifications
Active DEA license
Active state license preferred
IMLC candidates accepted (LOQ required at time of submission)
Working Hours
Night call 5 pm-7 am
Weekend call starts Friday 5 pm-7 am on Monday
Weekend Call 1:7
Skills
Diagnose and manage a wide range of autoimmune and inflammatory conditions (e.g., rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, vasculitis, gout)
Develop long-term treatment plans, including biologics and immunosuppressive therapies
Monitor disease progression and adjust care plans accordingly
Clinical Evaluation Skills
Strong ability to take comprehensive histories and perform detailed musculoskeletal exams
Recognize subtle or complex presentations of systemic disease
Manage chronic conditions with a focus on quality of life and functional improvement
Diagnostic & Imaging Interpretation
Order and interpret labs and imaging, including:
Autoimmune panels and inflammatory markers
MRI and ultrasound
Comfort correlating imaging with clinical findings
Procedural Skills (Preferred)
Joint injections and aspirations
