Job Overview:
The Rheumatologist provides comprehensive, evidence-based care for patients with autoimmune, inflammatory, and musculoskeletal diseases within a multi-location private practice setting. This role is responsible for diagnosing and managing complex rheumatologic conditions, prescribing and monitoring advanced therapeutics (including biologics and infusion therapies), and collaborating closely with infusion services, ancillary programs, research teams, and multidisciplinary clinical staff.

The practice operates a physician-led, high-efficiency outpatient model with in-house infusion services, laboratory capabilities, and potential clinical research opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive outpatient rheumatology care, including diagnosis, treatment planning, and long-term disease management.
  • Evaluate and manage complex autoimmune and inflammatory conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, lupus, vasculitis, and spondyloarthropathies.
  • Prescribe, monitor, and manage DMARDs, biologics, and infusion therapies in collaboration with the infusion team.
  • Supervise and collaborate with Advanced Practice Providers (APPs), including chart review and clinical oversight when applicable.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and adhere to clinical protocols and evidence-based guidelines.
  • Work closely with patient support teams and prior authorization staff to ensure efficient therapy access and reduce time to treatment.
  • Support infusion safety and respond to infusion-related reactions or clinical incidents when necessary.
  • Maintain compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, Medicare/Medicaid regulations, and applicable state healthcare requirements.
  • Participate in clinical research opportunities if interested.
  • Contribute to a collaborative, patient-centered care environment that promotes teamwork and accountability.

Qualifications

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited institution.
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Rheumatology.
  • Active and unrestricted state medical license (or eligibility for licensure).
  • Active DEA registration.
  • Experience with biologics and infusion therapy management preferred.
  • Strong clinical judgment with a commitment to evidence-based practice.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Commitment to patient safety, regulatory compliance, and high-quality patient care.
