Major Duties of the Position:
- Provide high-quality diagnostic radiology services in our progressive, innovative health care system for the veteran outpatient and inpatient population.
- Interpret a wide range of imaging studies, including X-rays, CT scans, MRIs, ultrasounds, and other imaging modalities, both on-site and through telemedicine.
- Collaborate with other specialists to provide comprehensive care, offering expert consultations and imaging interpretations to contribute to patient diagnosis and treatment plans.
- Develop and implement individualized care plans based on imaging findings, working closely with referring physicians.
- Perform and/or oversee interventional radiology procedures as needed.
- Participate in the development and implementation of radiology policies and procedures to maintain high standards of care.
- Teach and mentor medical students, residents, and fellows, contributing to educational development programs affiliated with the University of New Mexico, School of Medicine.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to patient care, teaching, and research, and be eligible for a faculty appointment in the Department of Radiology at the University of New Mexico.
- Work with a multidisciplinary team to provide holistic care for patients, utilizing both on-site and telemedicine capabilities to extend the reach of radiology services.

Recruitment Incentive (Sign-on Bonus): Highly qualified individuals may be eligible for a recruitment/relocation incentive in accordance with agency policy. To receive consideration for an incentive, the selectee must be among the best qualified and meet the criteria established in the VA Handbook 5007 Part VI Chapter 2. Service agreement required.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases
- Paid Time Off: 50–55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5-day paid absence for CME)
- Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA
- Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement)
- Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory
- CME: Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (must be full-time with board certification)
- Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage provided
- Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restrictions on moonlighting
