Job description

Job description

A regional medical center in the Boise, Idaho area needs a locum interventional radiologist starting January 2027, one to two weeks a month on an ongoing basis.

The block runs Monday through Sunday, seven consecutive days. Monday through Friday is 8a to 5p with night call from 5p to 8a. Saturday and Sunday are 24-hour call, 8a to 8a. One week is the minimum and two consecutive weeks is the ideal.

Before that reads as punishing, look at the callback numbers the facility publishes: 0 to 1 hours per night call shift, and 2 to 3 hours per weekend day. The service is staffed with four interventional radiologists and five advanced practice providers trained specifically for IR, and hospital call is split between the physicians and the APPs to hold down the after-hours burden.

The service itself is well built: biplane angiography, MRI and MRA, CT and CTA, CT perfusion, and four-vessel angiography.

Pay is $423.50 an hour for clinical time, $1,296 per night call, and $2,160 per 24-hour weekend call, with callback at $550.55 an hour. Using the facility’s own callback averages, a standard seven-day block lands in the neighborhood of $34,000. Flights, lodging, rental car and mileage are reimbursed.

Required procedures include trauma embolization of the body, pulmonary thrombectomy, gastric tube placement, biliary and cholecystostomy tube placement, nephrostomy and ureteral stenting, dialysis graft and fistula stenting, body arteriography, and IVC filter placement and removal.
