Interventional Radiology Locums Physician Needed | Altoona, PA

Coverage Type: Locum Tenens | Estimated Commitment: 7 shifts/month

WPA Medicine Staffing is seeking a BC/BE Interventional Radiologist for an ongoing locum tenens opportunity in Altoona, Pennsylvania. This position offers a community IR practice with a combination of daytime procedural coverage, diagnostic radiology responsibilities, APP oversight, and overnight/weekend call.

Assignment Highlights

• Estimated Commitment: Approximately 7 shifts per month
• Coverage Model: Typically 1 week on / 1 week off
• Schedule: Monday–Sunday coverage block
• Daytime Coverage: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM
• Evening Call: Monday–Friday, 4:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• Weekend Call: Saturday 7:00 AM – Monday 7:00 AM
• Call: Yes; emergent IR procedures overnight and throughout the weekend
• Response Time: 30 minutes
• Call Type: Telephone with potential for in-person response
• Solo Coverage: Physician will work independently as the only IR radiologist on-site
• Diagnostic Radiology: Some DR reading responsibilities may be required between procedures
• EMR: Epic Bridges
• Travel: Mileage, airfare, lodging, parking, rental car/fuel, and ground transportation covered

Clinical Responsibilities

• Perform a broad community Interventional Radiology procedure mix
• Provide daytime IR coverage Monday–Friday
• Provide overnight and weekend call coverage for emergent IR procedures
• Oversee APPs performing designated IR procedures within their scope and skillset
• Provide APP procedural oversight
• Assist with diagnostic radiology reading responsibilities as needed between procedures
• Perform procedures independently while supported by the on-site radiology team

Practice & Support

• The IR physician will be the only IR radiologist on-site
• Supported by 3 IR APPs
• At least 1–2 diagnostic radiologists are on-site during weekday coverage
• Current team includes locum providers providing intermittent coverage; the goal is to add a physician who can provide more consistent week-long coverage

Requirements

• BC/BE Interventional Radiologist
• Minimum 5 years of experience
• Active Pennsylvania medical license
• PA DEA
• ACLS
• BLS
• IMLC candidates will be considered
• Strong community IR skillset
• Comfortable with diagnostic radiology reading responsibilities
• Comfortable providing APP oversight
• Must be comfortable working independently
• Must be available for the full Monday–Sunday coverage block when scheduled
