Job description

A hospital-based imaging department is seeking a Board Certified Interventional Radiologist for full-time locum tenens coverage beginning June 2026. This position supports both inpatient and outpatient procedural services with a diverse interventional case mix and diagnostic imaging responsibilities.

Rates: Regular hourly rates: $525/hr, Orientation: $500/hr, Night call $1000/night, Night hourly call-back - $550/hr, 24 hour call $4000 (includes 6 hour gratis). $550/hr after 6 hours

Coverage Type: Locum Tenens

Start Date: June 2026

Schedule: 20+ shifts per month

Preferred Coverage: Consecutive shifts Monday–Friday

Typical onsite clinic shifts: 8–10 hours

Weekend coverage includes 24-hour call for Interventional Radiology.

Providers may also be cross-credentialed at an additional nearby facility for diagnostic imaging support.

Clinical Responsibilities

Provide image-guided diagnostic and therapeutic procedures including:

CT and ultrasound-guided biopsies (lung, thyroid, renal, liver, bone, lymph node, bone marrow)

Drain placement and management (abscess drains, chest tubes, drain exchanges)

Biliary procedures

Gastrointestinal and genitourinary procedures

Vascular procedures and access

Hemodialysis access procedures

Oncology-related interventional procedures

Providers work closely with referring physicians, hospital teams, and procedural staff to deliver comprehensive interventional radiology services.

Practice Environment

Mix of diagnostic radiology and interventional radiology coverage including:

Weekday onsite diagnostic shifts including mammography, fluoroscopy, and general diagnostic imaging

Weekend diagnostic coverage

Interventional radiology call coverage

EMR: Epic

Providers may work independently in procedural and diagnostic roles.

Credentialing

Estimated credentialing timeframe: approximately 60 days

Full privileges and temporary privileges available.

Requirements

Board Certified Interventional Radiologist – required

Active Illinois medical license – required (IMLC not accepted)

DEA and CSR licenses – required

ACLS certification – required

Minimum 1 year of experience – required

Clean malpractice and background history – required
