Hospital in Lansing, MI is seeking a Board Certified Cardiothoracic Surgeon for locum coverage from May 1, 2026 through December 31, 2026. The role includes weekday onsite rounding and call coverage, plus one weekend of night and 24-hour beeper call per month. The facility offers dedicated CV ORs and utilizes Epic EMR.
Job Responsibilities
• Cover weekend call from Friday evening to Monday morning (1 weekend per month preferred)
• Perform adult cardiac and general thoracic surgical procedures
• Conduct CABG and heart valve repair/replacement surgeries
• Perform thoracotomy (lung biopsy, lung resection, pneumonectomy)
• Tube thoracostomy and pericardial window procedures
• Thoracotomy decortication and mediastinal surgery
• Manage postoperative cardiac and thoracic patients
• Utilize Epic EMR for documentation
Qualifications
• Board Certified in Cardiothoracic Surgery – REQUIRED
• Active Michigan medical license – REQUIRED (or willing to obtain)
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications – REQUIRED
• NPDB self-query (within 30 days) – REQUIRED
• Clean malpractice and license history – Highly Preferred
• Must submit complete rates at name clear
Working Hours
• Weekend call: Friday evening to Monday morning
• 1 week per month onsite (M–F) rounding + call
• Night call and holiday call coverage as needed
• Start Date: 05/01/2026
• End Date: 12/31/2026
