Job Overview
A leading healthcare system based in Wayne County, Michigan is seeking a Board-Certified, Fellowship-Trained Breast Imaging Radiologist for an ongoing locum tenens opportunity. This position offers a consistent outpatient schedule, advanced breast imaging technology, and the opportunity to work alongside a collaborative multidisciplinary team dedicated to women's health.
Position Highlights
- Ongoing locum assignment
- ASAP start available
- Outpatient breast imaging practice
- Flexible coverage needs:

- 2-3 days per week
- 2-4 weeks per month
- No call responsibilities
- Day schedule:
- Monday-Friday
- 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM
- Modern imaging environment utilizing:
- Cerner EMR
- Change Healthcare PACS (transitioning to Sectra PACS)
Expected Case Mix
- Screening Mammography: 45-55%
- Approximately 35-40 studies per shift
- Diagnostic Mammography: 25-35%
- Breast Procedures: 15-25%
Daily Volume
- 40-50 patient encounters per day
Required Clinical Skills
Candidates must demonstrate expertise in:
- Screening mammography
- Diagnostic mammography
- Breast ultrasound
- Breast MRI
- Image-guided breast biopsies
- Needle localizations
- Breast aspirations
- BI-RADS assessment and reporting
- MQSA compliance standards
- Same-day diagnostic workups
Strong patient-facing communication skills are essential, as radiologists regularly discuss imaging findings and procedures directly with patients.
Collaboration & Support
Work within a multidisciplinary breast care team that includes:
- Registered Nurses: 2
- Medical Assistant: 1
- Office Staff: 2
The radiologist will collaborate closely with:
- Breast surgeons
- Oncology teams
- Breast imaging technologists
- Nursing staff
Teaching and resident supervision responsibilities are included.
Qualifications
Required
- MD or DO
- Board Certified in Radiology
- Fellowship Training in Breast Imaging
- Active Michigan Medical License
- BLS Certification
- Ability to obtain hospital privileges
Additional Requirements
- Breast imaging board certification aligned with specialty
- Comfortable in a fast-paced clinical environment
- Strong procedural and diagnostic breast imaging experience
