Position Overview

Join a rapidly growing Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine program just outside of Indianapolis, where you will step into immediate patient demand, strong procedural volume, and a highly collaborative team.

This is a true growth opportunity—not a replacement role—where you can build a long-term practice with support, autonomy, and balance. The incoming physician will have the opportunity to shape the future of the pulmonary and sleep service line, with leadership potential as the program continues to expand.

Why This Opportunity Stands Out

  • 4-day work week with no weekend or after-hours call
  • $500K+ compensation depending on scope
  • 2-month patient backlog providing immediate volume
  • Access to robotic bronchoscopy (Ion platform)
  • Established and growing sleep medicine program
  • Supportive onboarding with quick ramp-up
  • Excellent work-life balance in a high-demand specialty

Practice Highlights

  • 80% outpatient and 15–20% inpatient consults
  • Dedicated weekly procedure day
  • No traditional call burden
  • Hospitalists manage ICU and admissions; pulmonology consulted as needed
  • Strong referral base with increasing pulmonary and sleep demand

Team Structure

  • 2 Pulmonary/Critical Care physicians
  • 2 Nurse Practitioners (including one with extensive pulmonary experience)
  • 3 Respiratory Therapists and RN support
  • Dedicated clinical teams for each physician

The culture is highly collaborative, non-territorial, and patient-focused, with strong communication across providers and staff.

Clinical Overview

Outpatient Pulmonary Care

  • Majority outpatient practice (~80%)
  • Approximately 20–25 patients per day across clinic and consults
  • Mix of new patients (40 minutes) and follow-ups (20 minutes)
  • High volume of complex pulmonary cases and abnormal imaging

Inpatient Responsibilities

  • Pulmonary and ICU consults only
  • Average 1–4 consults per day (up to 8 during peak season)
  • Consult-based model with no primary ICU management required
  • Flexible workflow to manage consults throughout the day

Procedures

  • Dedicated weekly procedure day
  • 2–4 procedures per procedure day
  • Includes robotic bronchoscopy (Ion platform), chest tubes, and catheter placements
  • Opportunity to expand procedural skills with training available

Sleep Medicine

  • 4-bed sleep lab with strong and growing demand
  • Approximately 12 in-lab sleep studies per week plus home sleep studies
  • Approximately 800 new CPAP setups annually
  • Embedded CPAP clinic with respiratory therapist support
  • Opportunity to grow into a Sleep Medical Director role over time

Compensation and Benefits

  • $460,000–$500,000+ base salary for Pulmonary/Critical Care
  • Full comprehensive benefits package including:
    • Health, dental, and vision insurance
    • Retirement plan
    • Paid malpractice with tail coverage
    • CME allowance and paid time off
    • Relocation assistance and sign-on bonus

Qualifications

Required

  • MD or DO degree
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Pulmonary Critical Care Medicine
  • Eligible for Indiana medical licensure

Preferred

  • Sleep Medicine certification or strong interest
  • Interest in procedures (robotics a plus)
  • Desire to be part of a growing program long-term
  • Team-oriented mindset with strong work ethic
