Job description In-house pulmonary and critical care coverage at a community hospital in the Hickory, NC area, Wednesday 12/30/2026 through Sunday 1/3/2027. Pay is $300.30 per hour for 12-hour shifts, 7a to 7p, with callback hours included in that rate. A typical day is 5 to 8 assigned patients plus pulmonary consults on a 16-bed unit, with Cerner as the EMR. The hospital also wants to build a bench of providers for repeat coverage, so this week can lead to more dates. Travel is covered, and temporary privileges are available.

Job Responsibilities

Cover the pulmonary and critical care unit in house, 7a to 7p. Round on assigned patients, perform standard pulmonary consults and handle admissions. Respond to calls within 25 minutes. Document patient contact and callback hours with supporting notes on your timesheet.

Qualifications

Pulmonary and critical care physician with an active North Carolina license and an active DEA. BLS and ACLS.

Working Hours

12/30/2026 through 1/3/2027, 12-hour in-house shifts, 7:00a to 7:00p. 25-minute response time.
