Job description

We are seeking an experienced Lung Transplant Physician for an ongoing locum opportunity in New Jersey. This position combines inpatient transplant coverage with outpatient clinic responsibilities while working alongside a multidisciplinary transplant team.

Assignment Details

  • ASAP start
  • Coverage through November 2026
  • 40 hours per week
  • Inpatient and outpatient responsibilities

Schedule

  • Alternating weekly schedule:
    • Week 1: Inpatient (8:00 AM – 4:00 PM) plus call
    • Week 2: Outpatient Clinic (8:00 AM – 4:00 PM)

Practice Setting

  • Lung Transplant Program
  • Inpatient and outpatient care
  • Epic EMR

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Management of lung transplant recipients
  • Pulmonary and critical care coverage
  • Outpatient transplant follow-up
  • Multidisciplinary transplant care

Procedures

  • Bronchoscopy
  • Thoracentesis
  • Chest tube placement

Patient Volume

  • Inpatient: Approximately 8 patients
  • Outpatient Clinic: Approximately 15 patients per day

Team Structure

  • Multidisciplinary Lung Transplant Team
  • Pulmonary/Critical Care Fellows
  • Collaborative physician support
  • APP support available

Requirements

  • MD or DO
  • Board Certified in Pulmonary Medicine
  • Board Certified in Critical Care Medicine
  • Lung Transplant Fellowship required
  • Minimum 2 years of Lung Transplant, Pulmonary, and Critical Care experience
  • Recent Lung Transplant program experience required
  • Active New Jersey license preferred due to urgent need

Credentialing

  • Temporary and emergency privileges available
