The opportunity is based within a 16-bed Psychiatric Health Facility (PHF) and offers a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment focused on acute psychiatric stabilization and continuity of care.

Job Responsibilities
Provide psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and stabilization for adults in a 16-bed inpatient psychiatric health facility.
Complete comprehensive psychiatric assessments and mental status examinations.
Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on each patient’s clinical needs.
Prescribe, manage, and monitor psychotropic medications.
Provide ongoing psychiatric management for patients with serious mental illness and acute behavioral health needs.
Assess and manage patients experiencing psychiatric crises, including suicide and safety risks.
Determine appropriate levels of care and participate in admission, continued-stay, and discharge decisions.
Collaborate with social workers, case managers, therapists, nurses, and other members of the multidisciplinary treatment team.
Coordinate appropriate follow-up services and community resources to promote continuity of care after discharge.
Work collaboratively with crisis-response and community behavioral health resources when appropriate.
Provide consultation and clinical guidance to other members of the treatment team.
Complete progress notes, psychiatric evaluations, treatment plans, discharge documentation, and other required clinical records accurately and timely.
Participate in treatment-team meetings and care coordination activities.
Provide patient and family education regarding diagnoses, medications, treatment recommendations, and follow-up care.
Maintain compliance with applicable clinical, ethical, regulatory, and documentation standards.
Provide coverage according to the established 9 sixteen-hour shifts per month schedule.
Qualifications
MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
Successful completion of an accredited Psychiatry Residency Program.
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry preferred.
Active, unrestricted California medical license or ability to obtain one prior to start.
Current DEA registration or eligibility to obtain.
Experience evaluating, diagnosing, and treating adults with acute and serious mental illness.
Inpatient psychiatry, emergency psychiatry, or crisis stabilization experience preferred.
Strong knowledge of psychopharmacology and psychiatric medication management.
Ability to perform comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, mental status examinations, suicide risk assessments, and treatment planning.
Comfortable managing high-acuity and complex psychiatric presentations.
Strong clinical judgment, communication, and documentation skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with nurses, social workers, therapists, case managers, and other behavioral health professionals.
Must meet applicable credentialing and medical staff requirements.
H-1B and J-1 visa candidates may be considered.
