Located in Grovetown, the new hospital is part of Wellstar’s continued investment in the region. The adjacent medical office building provides an opportunity to practice in a modern outpatient setting alongside primary care providers, specialists, and behavioral health professionals, fostering an integrated approach to patient care.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about improving access to psychiatric services, delivering evidence-based treatment, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to support the mental health and overall well-being of adult patients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive outpatient psychiatric evaluations, diagnoses, and treatment for adult patients with a range of mental health conditions.

  • Develop individualized treatment plans incorporating evidence-based psychiatric care and medication management.

  • Manage conditions including depression, anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders, and related behavioral health concerns.

  • Provide medication management and monitor treatment effectiveness, tolerability, and patient progress.

  • Administer and manage long-acting injectable medications when clinically indicated.

  • Collaborate with primary care physicians, clinical psychologists, addiction medicine providers, and other specialists to deliver coordinated, patient-centered care.

  • Incorporate a biopsychosocial approach to assessment and treatment, recognizing the relationship between physical health, mental health, and social factors.

  • Coordinate referrals and transitions of care for patients requiring additional behavioral health services or a higher level of psychiatric care.

  • Participate in interdisciplinary case discussions, practice meetings, and quality improvement initiatives.

  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation within Epic, Wellstar’s electronic health record.

  • Support patient safety initiatives and coordinate with appropriate clinical support services when additional assistance is needed.

  • Contribute to the growth and development of outpatient behavioral health services in Columbia County and surrounding communities.

Qualifications

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO).

  • Completion of an accredited psychiatry residency program.

  • Board-certified or board-eligible in Psychiatry through the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.

  • Eligible for an unrestricted medical license in the state of Georgia.

  • Eligible for medical staff appointment and clinical privileges, as applicable.

  • Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, and medication management skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaborative skills.

  • Commitment to evidence-based practice, patient-centered care, and continuous quality improvement.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in an outpatient psychiatry or integrated behavioral health setting.

  • Experience treating adults across a broad range of psychiatric conditions.

  • Familiarity with collaborative care models and interdisciplinary treatment planning.

  • Experience with telepsychiatry and technology-enabled care delivery.

  • Interest in helping expand psychiatric services within a growing healthcare market.
