Locums Psychiatry Physician

We are seeking a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Psychiatry Physician for a locum tenens opportunity in a hospital-based psychiatric emergency screening center in Atlantic City, NJ. This position offers a 7-days-on/7-days-off overnight schedule, providing psychiatric emergency evaluations for adult and pediatric patients experiencing mental health crises. The physician will also supervise and teach psychiatry residents while supporting timely, appropriate patient disposition and treatment.

Compensation: $230 Per Hour

Schedule & Details

· Shift: Nights, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM

· Schedule: 7 days on / 7 days off

· Coverage Week: Monday at 7:00 PM through the following Monday at 7:00 AM

· Call: None

· Practice Setting: Hospital-based psychiatric emergency room / screening center

· Patient Population: Adult and pediatric psychiatric patients

· Average Volume: 8–10 patients per shift

· Trauma Level: Level II

· EMR: Oracle / Cerner FirstNet

Responsibilities

· Conduct psychiatric emergency evaluations for adult and pediatric patients presenting in crisis.

· Assess mental health needs, determine appropriate patient disposition, and establish treatment plans.

· Make admission, discharge, and observation-level care determinations.

· Provide psychiatric medication management as clinically indicated.

· Evaluate and manage patients presenting with acute psychiatric symptoms and behavioral health emergencies.

· Supervise and teach psychiatry residents during clinical evaluations.

· Collaborate with the emergency and psychiatric care teams to ensure safe, effective patient care.

· Complete timely and accurate clinical documentation in Oracle / Cerner FirstNet.

Requirements

· Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry

· Active New Jersey medical license required

· Experience with psychiatric emergency evaluations required

· Experience evaluating adult patients and children or adolescents in crisis settings
