Job Title: Psychiatrist
Location: Fort Carson, CO 80913
Shift: 8:00a-05:00p (M-F)
Hours/week: 40 Hours/week
Duration: 1 Year to Long term
• Direct Patient Care: Examine, diagnose, treat, and prescribe evidence-based courses of treatment for acute and chronic psychiatric conditions.
• Emergency & Crisis Management: Perform rapid emergency psychiatric services and crisis interventions, executing life-saving emergency medical procedures when clinically necessary.
• Preventative Medicine: Drive proactive health maintenance care, counseling patients on positive behavioral adjustments, lifestyle modifications, and treatment compliance.
• Diagnostic & Case Management: Order and interpret diagnostic testing; build robust, multi-disciplinary patient care workflows that integrate individual medical and military histories.
Academic Instruction & Medical Consultation
• Staff Mentorship: Direct, instruct, and assist in training other healthcare professionals and clinic staff within the scope of your assigned clinical privileges.
• Continuing Education: Design and deliver educational lectures, in-service presentations, and clinical case workshops following strict government standards.
• Peer Advice: Provide critical telephonic and in-person clinical consultations to staff physicians, advanced practice providers (NPs/PAs), and ancillary clinical staff regarding urgent, emergent, and routine psychiatric cases.
Quality Assurance & Governance
• Advisory Boards: Serve as an active member of the MTF professional medical staff and faculty, participating in facility committees, conferences, and board meetings.
• Clinical Performance Improvement: Evaluate systemic care delivery models within the MTF, consult on highly complex cases, and recommend corrective actions to eliminate operational deficiencies.
• Risk Management: Participate heavily in hospital Quality Assurance (QA) functions, safety risk management loops, and clinical peer review systems.
• Medical Education: Graduation from a medical institution recognized by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) of the AMA, a college of osteopathy approved by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), or an international school backed by an active ECFMG certification.
• Residency Training: Successful completion of an accredited Psychiatry residency program approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).
• Board Status: Possess or be fully eligible for a board certification recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) or the AOA Bureau of Osteopathic Specialists.
• Licensure: Hold a current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in any U.S. State, Territory, or Commonwealth.
• Clinical Competency: Background must meet standard credentialing metrics required for full privileging by the Defense Health Agency (DHA).

Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly accomplished, collaborative, and competent Staff Psychiatrist (MD/DO) to deliver a full spectrum of mental health care services at Fort Carson, CO 80913. In this multi-faceted role, you will perform psychiatric evaluations, manage complex pharmacotherapy, lead crisis interventions, and serve as a vital clinical educator to the multi-disciplinary medical team.
